Istanbul Sights and History

Istanbul is a beautiful and historic city. You will find national treasures within this city that have become some of the world’s most beautiful tourist spots. There are three main baths in this Turkish city: the Suleymaniye Bath, the Cagaloglu Bath and the Cemberlitas Bath. The Suleymaniye Bath is the only unisex bath in Turkey that was built in the 1600s by Sinan. The Cagaloglu Bath is one of the most popular Turkish bath that has separate sections for men and women. The final bath, the Cemberlitas Bath is surrounded by famous Istanbul monuments and was established in the late 1600s by Sinan. This bath has separate sections for women and men.

The Hagia Sophia Museum was a basilica that was established under the famous Byzantine Emperor Justinian in the 6th Century and was later turned into a museum.in the 1930s. It boasts exquisite mosaics among other traditional Turkish art pieces and artifacts. The Topkapi Palace is located near the Hagia Sophia Museum and was used for three centuries for the Ottoman Emperors. It is now a museum and hosts rugs, artifacts, Christian and Islamic relics, weapons and china.

The Sultanahmet Mosque or the Blue Mosque has stunning architecture and is still a working mosque. Therefore proper attire must be worn in order to respect the mosque’s requirements to allow entry. The Basilica Cistern was created in 532 by Justinian as a cistern and later became a basilica. It is internationally renowned for its architecture and mysterious atmosphere. The Hippodrome is located net to the Basilica Cistern. Although it does not exist from deterioration, there are various monuments, sculptures and obelisks that stand commemorating its existence. The final destination you should visit is the Chora Church which is over 1000 years old. It has amazing fresco and mosaics artwork. It is now a mosque.
