Istanbul is rich when it comes to food. The Turkish food prepared here has unique spices that make dining out in Istanbul superb. Although Turkish food is not the only type of cuisine that you can find here, you should make it worthwhile to eat since you will be in Istanbul.

Just like your accommodations, Istanbul has restaurants that are designed for travelers who are on a budget. Some of these restaurants include the following: Meshur Köfteci, Karadeniz Aile Pide ve Kebap Salonu, Simit Sarayi and Doner. Meshur Köfteci are known for its meatball dishes, piyaz and ayran. Karadeniz Aile Pide ve Kebap Salonu is known for its pide.

If you are looking for food with a little more substance and averagely priced, you can enjoy the following restaurants in Istanbul: Nevizade, Rumeli Café, Green Corner, Set Kebap and Kosebasi Kebap. Nevide specializes in Meyhane cuisine, Rumeli Café specializes in traditional Ottoman and Turkish cuisines which mainly serve lamb, Green Corner is known for its tranquility and gozleme while the Set Kebap and the Kosebasi Kebap are known for their kebabs.

If you are looking to splurge one night or two, try these fine dining restaurants in Istanbul: Asitane, Betyi Restaurant and Balikci Yuksel. The Asitane has the best ottoman dishes that were used in the various palaces throughout the centuries while the Betyi Restaurant is the best restaurant in all of Istanbul and probably Turkey as well. The Balikci Yuksel has the best fish platters and costs around 25 Euros per person. If you are looking for vegetarian food you can go to Zencefil which is a vegetarian café.

Dining in Istanbul will be a fun and cultural experience for every traveler. Expect a lot of lamb and fish dishes but if you are a vegetarian there are a few vegetarian restaurants that can be spotted in Istanbul.
